A Note From Your Principals

We are so excited to welcome you to the 2026/27 school year!! To all our new Hawks, welcome to the best school in Texas! This is our weekly newsletter to our Herff community that shares important events, dates, and all things Herff. Please feel free to reach out to us if you ever have questions or just to say "hi"!

To all our returning Hawks, welcome back! In order to caputure more viewers, we have revamped our newsletter. Hopefully you will find it more efficient and student-focused. Please feel free to provide us with any feedback that will help our community be more informed. We've missed you all summer and can't wait to see how much your children will grow this year!

We have refreshed our Herff Family Playbook as well. Please take a moment to review our school procedures for the upcoming year.

Portion of Senate Bill 12 – Parental Rights

ec. 26.0062. REQUIRED DISCLOSURE REGARDING INSTRUCTIONAL PLANS.

  • Each school district shall adopt a policy to make available on the district’s Internet website at the beginning of each semester an instructional plan or course syllabus for each class offered in the district for that semester.
  • The policy adopted under Subsection (a) must:
  • (1) require each teacher to provide before the beginning of each semester a copy of the teacher ’s instructional plan or course syllabus for each class for which the teacher provides instruction to:
  • (A) district administration; and
  • (B) the parent of each student enrolled in the class; and
(2) provide for additional copies of an instructional plan or course syllabus to be made available to a parent of a student enrolled in the class on the parent’s request.

Our Attendance Goal This Year: 96.5%

90% Rule: Students must be in attendance 90% of the school year or are considered at risk for failure.

Truancy: Students with more than 10 unexcused absences are referred to truancy court.

Hawk Call of the Week

My favorite things at Herff were all the fun events the school does. Polar Express, Greatest Show on Herff, and Book Character Day were my top favorites. I will miss Mrs. Hammond the most! All the people that work at Herff are such a vibe and so fun to hang out with. We had so many fun events in class with my friends that made my year!

I want all new Hawks to know that sometimes the work gets tough, but if you ever feel stuck, your teachers at Herff will always help you out.

Teachers Back on Campus

This week, we welcomed our teachers back on campus for a fun-filled day of team building, with help from our community partners. We want to give a BIG thanks to Black Rifle Coffee, Salty & Sweet, Free Roam, Walmart, Patrick Heath Library, Boerne Parks & Rec, and Las Guitarras for their help in putting on the Herff Amazing Race!

Arrival/Drop off Procedures

We will continue following our typical arrival and drop-off routines in the '26/27 school year. All parent drop-offs will be in the "top" loop. As a reminder, if you are walking your student to the doors, please park and walk with them through the lot. If you are dropping off, please pull through the loop.

The pick-up routine is similar to the drop-off routine; however, only students in our PreK and Life Skills classes are asked to park and walk to the crosswalk. All other Hawks are called to their parents' vehicle in the loop by one of our Herff staff members.

The "bottom" loop is for buses and staff parking only.

Kindergarten and Pre-K Families

We know that parents are nervous about our new Pre-K and Kindergarten-aged children entering school for the first time. Boerne ISD welcomes parents of incoming Kindergarten and/or Pre-K students to walk their child to class at 8:00 on the first day of school. After settling your child in with his/her wonderful teacher, giving hugs, and saying see you later, please join our Counselor for Tears and Cheers.

First - Fifth Grade Families

Safety is our number one priority. Therefore, families are asked to allow their children who are in 1st-5th grades to walk into the building independently. Students are welcome to arrive starting as early as 7:00 in the cafeteria. At 7:15, classroom doors are opened to all students. The first bell will ring at 7:25; the tardy bell will ring at 7:35.

Lunch Time Practice

We are kindly asking all visitors to refrain from eating lunch with your child until August 24. This gives us time to instill processes, procedures, and expectations before having visitors. Thank you for your support.
